Get the Facts. Mosquito Facts.

What do you think the deadliest animal on earth is? Shark? Wolf? Crocodile?

Try the Mosquito. Mosquitoes lurk through the evening darkness, unseen by the human eye in search of their victim. Tiny and quiet, these nuisances can cause major illness that often lead to death. Mosquitoes can transmit serious diseases like malaria, dengue fever and west nile virus. Take advantage of professional mosquito control with Mosquito Squad of North Central Minnesota.

Malaria

Malaria is a mosquito-borne illness caused by a parasite. Malaria kills over 600,000 people every year worldwide. It threatens half of the world’s population and uses billions of dollars in lost productivity annually. According to the CDC about 1,500 cases of malaria are diagnosed in the United States each year. The vast majority of cases in the United States are in travelers and immigrants returning from countries where malaria transmission occurs, many from sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.

West Nile Virus

West Nile virus (WNV) is most commonly transmitted to humans by mosquitoes. Most people get infected with West Nile virus by the bite of an infected mosquito. Mosquitoes become infected when they feed on infected birds. Infected mosquitoes can then spread the virus to humans and other animals.
